“But MOM, I really want a puppy!”

After getting a new dog last weekend I have been thinking about the reasponabilites that go along with that. Wanting a puppy is a common occurrence for all most all children. As a teacher or parent how do you teach a child all of the responsibilities that go along with pet ownership? One children’s book that came to my mind was Arthur’s Pet Business by Marc Brown.

When looking into books that teach children about having a new pet I came across a book called Chewdalootie, Doing My Duty. “This spunky little dog shows us that pet ownership involves more than just love. With it comes responsibility and commitment of the consequences can result in some rather chewed up situations.” (Goodreads)
